Even with the flash turned off in the “Creative” modes like P, Av or Tv, the flash will still automatically pop up and fire in Auto mode. There are 2 sliding rail from the inside of the flash and it seems that on one side, the plastic has worn out and has like a little hole which prevent the slinding back.
